At Driftwood Dental Studio in Wilmington, NC, we want every visit to feel comfortable and clear. If visiting the dentist makes you anxious, you are not alone; let us know and we will do everything we can to help you feel at ease. Here is what to expect when you come see us.

Your first visit
We start by reviewing your dental and medical history and taking X-rays of your teeth and mouth. Then Dr. Vasamsetti or Dr. Turek meets with you to go over what we see, help you create a treatment plan if you need one, and answer your questions. If you need treatment, we explain your options and what your insurance is expected to cover before anything is scheduled. Your cleaning with one of our hygienists is usually at your next visit. How long appointments take
Appointments typically last 45 to 90 minutes, depending on what we are doing that day. We recommend a checkup and cleaning every six months, as the American Dental Association does.
Comfort during your visit
We offer blankets, neck pillows and your choice of music, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) when you need it, and Abby, our certified therapy dog. Just let us know what helps you feel at ease.
Insurance and payment
Our office staff handles insurance claims and paperwork for you and checks your benefits before treatment. We are in-network with more than 30 dental insurance plans, including Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Humana and Guardian, as well as Medicare Advantage dental plans from Aetna, Humana, Liberty Dental, UnitedHealthcare and United Concordia.
