Implant Restoration
Implant restoration is the final step of dental implant treatment: the custom crown, bridge or denture that attaches to your implant and becomes the tooth you see, chew and smile with. At Driftwood Dental Studio in Wilmington, NC, Dr. Jenny Turek and Dr. Prasad Vasamsetti handle implant treatment from the first consultation to the final crown in one office, so the dentists who plan your implant are the same dentists who design the tooth that goes on it.

What attaches to a dental implant
- Implant crown: one custom crown on one implant replaces a single missing tooth without touching the healthy teeth on either side.
- Implant-supported bridge: two implants can hold a fixed bridge that replaces three or four teeth in a row, with nothing resting on your natural teeth.
- Implant-supported denture: for a full upper or lower arch, implants (typically four) anchor a snap-in or fixed denture that does not slip. See our Dentures page for how the options compare.
How we restore your implant
After your implant is placed, it bonds with your jawbone over three to six months. Most patients wear a temporary tooth during this time, so there is no visible gap. Once the implant has healed, we take a digital scan (no goopy impression trays), design your crown, bridge or denture to match the shape and shade of your natural teeth, and attach it to the abutment, the small connector that joins the implant to your new tooth.

Caring for your implant restoration
You brush and floss an implant tooth the same way as a natural one, you eat what you like, and there is nothing to take out at night (unless you choose a snap-in denture). The implant itself is expected to last a lifetime with normal care. The crown on top typically lasts 10 to 15 years or more before it may need replacing, the same as a crown on a natural tooth. Regular checkups let us keep an eye on both.
What implant treatment costs
These ranges are our fees before insurance and include the implant and the restoration together:
- Single implant, abutment and crown: $3,500 – $6,000
- Implant-supported bridge (3–4 teeth on 2 implants): $8,000 – $15,000
- Snap-in implant denture (per arch, including implants): $12,000 – $25,000
Dental insurance often covers part of the crown and sometimes part of the implant.
